Cookie policy
1. Purpose of this policy
This cookie policy explains which cookies and comparable storage technologies Paw Alliance International (PAI) uses on this website. It supplements the privacy policy. The website is configured so that optional technologies are not activated before you consent.
2. Strictly necessary technologies
Strictly necessary cookies may be used to operate the website securely, protect forms against unauthorised submissions, maintain a session or sign-in and remember your privacy choice. This includes the pai_cookie_consent cookie. It stores the settings version, time of selection and categories you have enabled. It contains neither your name nor your email address and is stored for no more than 180 days. Depending on the function used, strictly necessary session and CSRF protection cookies may also be set. They are not used for audience measurement without consent to “Statistics”.
3. Optional categories
Statistics: After you consent, privacy-conscious first-party audience measurement is enabled. It uses a non-reversible HMAC of the technical session identifier to associate page views with one session. The path, content language and time are also stored, but no IP address, browser identifier, referrer, name or email address. No data is transmitted to an external analytics service. Analytics data is deleted automatically after no more than 395 days.
Marketing: This category is reserved for possible future marketing technologies. No marketing trackers, advertising pixels or personalised advertising services are currently used.
External media: This category permits content supplied by external providers to load. It currently applies in particular to Google Maps on the contact page. No connection to the map provider is made before permission is granted. After permission is granted, the provider may receive the IP address and technical browser and device information and may use its own technologies. A map may alternatively be loaded using the button shown in its placeholder; that active choice is stored as permission for the “External media” category.
4. Selection, withdrawal and changes
Optional categories are disabled on the first visit. “Accept all” and “Necessary only” are offered with equal prominence. “Save selection” allows categories to be enabled individually. Consent is voluntary and can be changed or withdrawn for the future at any time. Use the Privacy settings link in the footer. Withdrawing permission blocks optional content that has not yet loaded. Data already transmitted to an external provider cannot technically be retrieved.
5. Browser settings and updates
Cookies can also be deleted or blocked in the browser settings. Blocking all cookies may limit sign-in, forms or other technically required functions. If PAI introduces new analytics, marketing or external services, this policy, the privacy policy and the technical consent controls will be updated before those services are activated.
